A very thought provoking, well written article. Several tips here for all of us, however, experienced we may be in our profession.
I thought I should share with you an Old Chinese saying, which goes something like this ...
- If you want to plan for a Year, plant Corn !
- If you want to plan for 10 Years, plant Trees !
- If you want to plan for a 100 Years, plant People !
The LCD or lowest common denominator is often what makes or breaks the Image (or Personality) of a Hotel or a Restaurant. It is the Team Member who does not smile that turns you off when you, as a Guest, walk into a place and are not greeted or even noticed !. Similarly our Managers often don't greet their colleagues and team members!.
